Events for When the Wind Blows
I look forward to sharing When the Wind Blows at libraries, conferences, writer festivals and schools. Please email me if you'd like to discuss an event.
In January, 2018, St. Mark's School of Texas hosted its annual Literary Festival. It was the second year that the panel discussion included a children's book author. That's me on the left. To my right: music genius Billy Crockett, screenwriter Evan Daugherty, fiction writer Tony Earley, The New Yorker columnist Dana Goodyear and Mike Wilson, Editor of the Dallas Morning News.
I loved sharing When the Wind Blows with the young men at St. Mark's School of Texas's Lower School. There were definitely a few budding clean energy engineers who stole my heart.
COMING UP SOON!
I'm honored to be part of St. Mark's School of Texas's Annual Literary Festival this coming January 4-5th, 2018! Last year, bestselling novelist Tobias Wolff, slam poet Taylor Mali, journalists Eliza Griswold & Jake McAuley and celebrated children's book author Dianna Hutts Aston came together on stage to celebrate storytelling of all forms. Last year's festival was the first to include a children's author. Wish me luck as this community of students and teachers is the finest I know. My son, Dylan, was lucky enough to attend this remarkable school from 5th through 12th grade. It's such an honor to return to be a part of this amazing world. Thank you, David Brown for inviting me! Thank you, Jack Trahan, for organizing the event. Thanks, too, to Sherri Darver for arranging for me to speak with the 1st - 4th graders!

"Shootin' the Breeze" Radio this June
I was lucky to be a guest on Texas AM radio 1190's "Shootin' the Breeze" show with host Kristi Comuzzi and John Spicer of Breeze Energy.
Here are the Friends that I Shared When the Wind Blows with at EarthDayTexas!
Earth Day Event at University Park Public Library

Earth Day at Incarnation Episcopal
Thanks to veteran teacher, Robin Quiett, for inviting me to read WIND to her school's Kindergarten classes!
Reading WIND at Hyer Elementary in Dallas in celebration of Earth Day!
It was so fun to read WIND to this class of 1st graders, which included a few former students of mine. Their questions (and conclusions) about electricity and wind energy were amazing - so many future clean energy engineers, journalists and creative minds in one room. Thank you, Hyer, for having me!

Kids & Parents Love When the Wind Blows
One of the best things about being a published author (finally!) is reading your book to a classroom of crazy-smart, super-sweet children. Here I am at Armstrong Elementary School in Dallas, reading WIND in honor of a student's birthday. The class wanted to know every detail about how wind-generated electrons make their way to our homes and schools! I'm pretty confident that there was at least one future clean energy engineer in the mix - when the time comes to apply to college, he'll want to connect with Dr. J. Dr. J is the Stanford University Professor who has mapped the clean energy mix that will deliver 100% renewable energy to every state in the U.S. and to over a hundred countries!

Young Readers Love When the Wind Blows
I love hearing from my students who've read When the Wind Blows with their families. My colorful clean energy presentation is ready to share with your school, summer camp and/or local organization.
"Dear Miss Clark,
Thank you for writing your story. I like the rhyme and pictures."

Librarians Love When the Wind Blows
Many thanks to Highland Park & University Park, TX Elementary School librarians for inviting me to join them for an evening with award-winning children's author, Dianna Hutts Aston. Together, we saluted Dianna's latest lyrical science masterpiece, A Nest is Noisy (Chronicle Books), and the release of WIND.

Woodstock Writers Festival Book Launch
I was thrilled to launch When the Wind Blows at the Woodstock Writers Festival, where the book's title was the headliner at the weekend's Story Slam - the festival's uproariously fun kick-off event for writers and readers.
Those bold enough to share their talent at the mic had to incorporate the words "when the wind blows" into their 3-4 minute performances. The winners, Desiree O'Clair, Kathleen McKitty Harris and Verna Gillis each went home with a goody bag overflowing with books by festival panelists, including works by: Abigail Thomas, Martha Frankel, Beverly Donofrio, Christina Haag and Benoit Denizet-Lewis.
